Leven Remembers Sosabowski’s Men

… a few days after the 70th anniversary events in Driel and Arnhem
remembering Operation Market Garden in September 1944 …

… crowds gathered in Leven Memorial Gardens …

… the band played …

… cadets marched …

… Dr Hal Sosabowski unveiled the new memorial to
the 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade
that trained at Largo House and in the Leven area …

it was formed and led by his great grandfather
General Sosabowski

… wreaths were laid …

… photos taken ….
(David Mach, left, the artist who created the new memorial)

… veterans chatted …

… young met old …

… stories and memories were shared …

… and a fine buffet lunch was enjoyed …

basically a fantastic day
a fitting tribute to the young men of Poland
who fought for and with us in WW2

  1. Had a wonderful day meeting lots of other people with polish connections. A very emotional day. So very glad I went .
