Polish Photo Album

A wonderful find today …

… a photo album given to a family in Cupar
with whom Polish soldiers were billeted …

… Margaret and Tom remember
the Poles coming to stay in their house …

… the photos below are taken from the album put together by this chap
who we think was a cook …

… on the first page is a dedication … I wonder what happened to him ?

… the album is a mixture of pre-War postcards of towns in Poland
and photos of his own experiences …

… on the boat to England probably after being evacuated from France …

… he looks pretty comfortable but it wouldn’t have been an easy journey …

… coming into Cupar …

… a war time parade down the Bonnygate, Cupar
involving the Home Guard and the Polish Army …

… the King and Queen inspecting the coastal defences …

… time after time I hear about the singing and the dancing
and here we have the proof of some kind of Scottish-Polish dancing event …

… of course, the evening dances which took place in locals halls
across Fife were even more popular with the beautiful local Scottish lasses
and the charming young Polish soldiers …
… I’ll say no more …
