Wellshill Cemetery, Perth

I meant to post this on 1st September … but late as usual. Apologies.

That would have been the anniversary of the invasion of Poland in 1939.

I visited the Polish war graves at Wellshill Cemetery in Perth during my stay in Scotland.
It was established in 1940 as many Polish troops were already stationed in the area.

354 Poles are buried here.

The translation is:

“Eternal glory to the Polish soldiers who died in 1939-1945
for our freedom and yours.”

I sat on the bench in the sun and
thought about how long that freedom had taken for the Polish nation.
