Dolls

Doll Face, an exhibition of photos by Craig Deane
opens at the Museum of Childhood tonight.

It reminded me that I have a set of photos of my doll, Sheila.
(I had a red corduroy dress exactly the same as this. We were twins.)

And her friend whose name I cannot for the life of me remember.

Sheila is a little sad and battered but that’s because she was my favourite
– well, until Sindy came along.
But I have no idea what happened to my Sindy dolls. Yes, I had more than one.

My mother knitted and sewed all of Sheila’s clothes.

I particularly like the knitted underwear.

Meanwhile I made rather more groovy outfits for the Friend.

And, yes, I had a skirt like this too.
