Gants Hill

Gants Hill underground station opened in 1947 although work began on it before the war. It was designed by architect Charles Holden to look like the Moscow Metro. The barrel-vaulted ceiling gives it a much more open feel than many underground stations.

 

It’s rather beautiful … and deliciously empty on Sunday afternoons …
