PM Gallery & House

The PM Gallery and House was the weekend retreat of the architect Sir John Soane. Originally it housed his incredible collection of books, architectural drawings, paintings and sculptural fragments collected on his travels. These are now the basis of the Sir John Soane Museum in central London. After buying Pitzhanger Manor House he demolished a great deal of the original house and re-built it as a sort of advert for his individual style of architecture.

The house is situated in Walpole Park in Ealing behind the gates of the war memorial.

The gallery hosts some excellent exhibitons – currently Urban Origami
which brings together seven artists looking at urban development.

The park is a lovely place to sit and contemplate the world
even on a rather dull day.

I saw a heron up a tree but it was too high up to photograph.
This beautiful Cedars of Lebanon is about 200 years old but in bad health
and sadly soon to be cut down.

A moorhen family were out for a lunchtime swim.

The lettuce growing in the ‘pop up kitchen garden’ reminded me
I should have some lunch.

So I had a huge plate of pierogi – tasty but not as good as my dad’s.

And then I had to return to the PM House to run a pop-up card workshop …

under this beautiful ceiling.
