Newburgh Bears

There are two bears in Newburgh.

One is a Bear and a Staff figure on the hillside just outside the town.

This symbol has long been associated with the Earls of Warwick and dates back to
King Arthur but I’m not sure of the exact connection here in Newburgh.

The other is the Bear Tavern whose sign is, yes, a bear and staff.

The Bear Tavern has live music on Tuesdays.

Locals come along with their instruments to drink, play and sing.

Alan pouring guinness on his drum to improve the sound.

What a waste!
